List Of Ways To Make Money Online
I started this blog with the newbie in mind. Sometimes I get away from my initial purpose of this blog and have to redirect myself a bit. So here’s a post for those of you who are just getting started.
There are many ways to make money online. In this article I’m going to list a few just to get some ideas flowing.
Selling Tangible Products
This way is the way I make most of my money. Selling tangible products online can be done in many ways. Either you are dropshipping your products or you buy your products wholesale, store them at some location, and send the products out as your customers order them. There are advantages and disadvantages of both.
Contextual Advertising
Contextual advertising has recently caught my attention more as I see my Adsense revenue increase. I haven’t seen a huge increase, just enough to get my attention. With Adsense all you have to do is get an Adsense account at Google and then place these ads on high content sites. Blogs and Adsense usually come hand in hand. There are people out there who are making six figure incomes with Adsense. There are many contexual ad services out there besides Adsense, but Adsense is probably one of the most popular ones.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is also something that has caught my eye recently. I haven’t made a dime with it yet, but I’m looking into it. There are many ways to make money with affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is where you advertise for other websites. It can be something as simple as a banner or text link ad to a whole datafeed full of another websites products that you display on your own site.
Services
There are many services that you can offer on the web. The possiblilites of the services you can provide are endless If you are starting a service that is website related such as web design or SEO a great way to get started is to find forums that allow you to post your services. I’ve watched people get hundreds of clients this way without even having a website. As there business grows they start websites.

Hello!
I gotta say your website is very interesting and i’ve yet to go through all of it. A couple of months ago I was up late at night on my computer and a SMC comercial came on tv ( I know , I know) I defenitly wasn’t taken in by the prospect of selling overseas dollar store knick knacks but the concept of it raised an eyebrow. So I looked in to drop shipping, read what Chris Malta had to say on his website (didn’t buy his directory though) I got in contact with some drop shippers and established dealer Accounts, got my domain name (www.lyfestyles.net) through yahoo merchant solutions and put up my website using dreamweaver. This is my first website I have ever made but Dreamweaver seems to be pretty easy to figure out. I kind of lost interest in the site itself and got lost in ebay , now i’m thinking of digging more into amazon ( I sold the two products that I listed in amazon extremely quick.) Now I’m thinking of revamping my website and just making it a blog/informational forum ads, affiliates etc. with links to my ebay and amazon stores. My question is: would this be a good approach or should I just concentrate on selling directly from my site? Also I basicaly know sqaut about web design, I’m using flash buttons on my website which works fine when using firefox but if my site is viewed using IE I have to click on the buttons once to activate the activex controls-very annoying. I can’t seem to find any info on a work around code or what to keep IE from doing this!!!! If all else fails I guess I’ll have to settle for regular image buttons. Any suggestions? BTW, since the name of my site is kind of unique ,so unique that if ‘lyfestyles’ is typed in google my site is #1 on the search results-How can I exploit that?
Hello John,
Welcome to Webpuffs. You are asking some tuff questions. You know, I make most (nearly all) of my money from a website where I’m selling tangible goods. We are doing quite well with the site. The down falls of owning a site like we have is that it takes a lot of phone service to keep it going. When you are dealing with affiliate type sites you get away from that drama. In most cases, affiliate and contextual ad type sites can help you focus your time on your marketing instead of customer support.
My question to you is, do you have the time or ability to answer phone calls? How about emails? Our business shot through the roof the day we began to accept phone calls. It increased even more when we got a toll free number. Step #3 for us is to do online chat.
My other questions would be what kind of profit margin are you operating on your current site? (You don’t have to tell me.) Comapred to your competitors, do your prices beat them out?
If your answers to the above questions are no, and your profit margin is small, I would go with the affiliate route. I would possibly turn your site into a blog. I wouldn’t do a forum since it takes a lot to get forums going. People don’t like to visit forums that have no one posting on them. The hardest part about blogs is having something to say on a regular basis. The more you post worth while stuff, the more people are willing to visit and keep reading. Blogs can be a powerful tool. Any time I get a new site I blog about it and add a link to my new site. It helps bring a small amount of traffic to my new site quickly.
If you go with Amazon, I would recommend using Associate-O-Matic. You can check out this post on that:

If you think you would like to go on selling tangible goods, I would recommend buying a template or have someone do a design for you. Here’s a place you can get templates http://www.steves-templates.com. If you have tons of products, I’m an osCommerce fan.
As far as lyfestyles, the 5 articles under the marketing section under newbie tutorials will help on the SEO side of things:

I’m going to be writting an article here pretty soon about branding so keep your eyes open for that one.
That’s my 2-5 cents. I hope I helped. Thanks for reading my blog!
