My Directories Finally Have Page Rank
As I’ve said before in previous posts, I’m not a page rank junkie. But I believe page rank is important for directories. Many people will not submit their site to a paid directory unless there is page rank. The more the page rank, the more people are usually willing to pay to get their site submitted into a directory.
I just got into the directory scene probably a month ago or so. I bought www.directoriesonly.com and I started www.proaudiodirectory.net. Directories Only now has a PR of 3 and my pro audio directory has a PR of 2, nothing too exciting.
I haven’t had time to really build any links to these sites until recently. I’m some what of a tight wad so I take baby steps when it comes to buying stuff to promote my sites. I like each site to take care of it’s own advertising budget as much as possible. This means it is a long drawn out process. Directories Only will get more attention than my pro audio directory since proaudiodirectory.net caters to a much smaller group of site owners.
I’m still figuring out this directory thing. From what I see just starting out, it is better to get your directories’ page rank up before you really push visitors to your site. For example, I would rather spend money on directory submissions and links that offer page rank than buying forum links at this point. When the directory gets to a PR of 5, then it would be wise to start buying up sig links. Otherwise, you are getting site owners to your site who are not interested in your page rank and therefore won’t submit their site to your directory. If any of you veteran directory owners want to share your thoughts, feel free. ![]()

Your directory of directories looks real nice. I liked the fact that you have such a wide range of niches to choose from. Unfortunately, as far as I could see, none of the categories had any PR themselves. Try to get more links pointing to your inner pages. By increasing the PR for the inner pages you should see submissions increase greatly.

Thanks for the comment LennyP.
Actually, most of my categories do have page rank. The ones that you are seeing that don’t have page rank are the pages that just got links on them after the update. On this last update, Google did not give page rank to pages that were “blank” or in my case, didn’t have any links on them.
I will take your advice though.
