I Made $50 Today Off Ebay

I have a BANS site that I started that sells big ticket items.  I didn’t do any link building at all for the site.  And I’m using one of the default BANS templates.  Some how search engines found me.  I was quite surprised when I saw which site sale came from.  Three big pointers that I have to share when building BANS sites are:

  1. Shoot for big ticket items.  Big ticket items can potentially make huge money since the commissions are generally higher.  Here are some examples of big ticket items, cars, boats, motorcycles etc.
  2. Find a niche of big ticket items.
  3. Pick a niche that is selling.  If a lot of people are bidding on the big ticket items, then you probably found a hot market.

After making $50 today on that site, I’m really encouraged to spruce up the site and build some links.  :)

    Hello Jon,
Can help me by telling me what you’ll have to do to build some links?

    Hello Allen,

There are a few ways to build links.

    1. You can have free directory submissions done. There are people who do this for pretty cheap at digitalpoint.com.

    2. You can submit articles to article directories.

    3. Write your own unique content and put it on your BANS site. If you write good enough material, then people will want to link to it.

    4. Submit your site to paid directories.

I tend to stick to #1 a lot since I stink at writting and I’m not a huge risk taker. The bummer is Google hasn’t been fond of directories for the last year or so. (I tend to get more traffic from Yahoo and MSN on my BANS sites.) The best proceedure probably to follow would be to do #3 and then submit your site to a few good paid directories.

I also Stumble my own sites. You will get a huge influx of traffic at first and then the traffic will drop off, but I’ve found that sometimes others will Stumble your site also if they like it. I figure it it gets your site in front of the eyes of people, it’s all good. :)

    Hello Jon,
I ‘ve got one BANS site up and running and hosted thru host gator. I’m wanting to build another site ,will I need to get a new domain name and will they at host gator charge me another $9.99 a month for the second site or can it be piggy backed off of the first site. Can you explain how that works?

    Hello Allen,

You can host a ton of sites under the same account. All you have to do is go in your cpanel and click add-on domains. Put your domain name in yoursite.com. It will ask what directory the site is located in. (I usually name my subdirectories the same as the domain names so that I don’t get confused.) Fill in the other required info and your all set on your cpanel side. The next thing you need to do is set your name servers at your registrar so that the domain name points to your hosting account. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Jon
