Accounting Software

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

If your business has grown to the point where keeping track of sales is getting tough, you probably need to purchase some sort of accounting software. We bought Quickbooks in 2006, but it sat around until recently. We never really took the time to learn it. Now we have it installed and we are now picking up on the basics. What I like most about Quickbooks is it pretty much centralizes everything. When a new customer comes along, you type in their info. You can quickly make them a quote and then email it straight from Quickbooks. The customer will recieve the quote in PDF format. After plugging the customers information in, it is easy to make to receipts and quotes.

When we create receipts for customrs, we will place tracking numbers associated with their order in the memo line. Just in case a customers calls back later and asks for their tracking number again, we have it in a centralized location where it is easy to find.

The only downfall that I see with Quickbooks is that importing Paypal sales isn’t a super easy task. There are programs out there that you can purchase to make Paypal importing easier, but they charge you a monthly fee. I just get tired of paying monthly fees for every single little product that I need to run my business. So for right now, we will live without the Paypal imports.

If you are in need of an accounting software, feel free to visit our store. You can pick a used or new software for pretty cheap. I would be interested to hear from others who are using a different accounting software then Quickbooks. What do you like about your software? What do you dislike? Have you used other software before?

Attention Directory Owners

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I just bought a new site the other day.  You might have already guessed from my title it is a directory.  It’s a directory for directories called Directoriesonly.com.  I think it has a pretty cool name.  I’m looking forward to making this new site of mine flood with traffic and revenue.

I started getting interested in directories after I did an interview with a directory owner named Chris.  He gave me some very interesting information.  I also recently heard of a directory making $50,000 in a month.  My goal for my new directory is more like $500 a month income in 6 months.  I would like to diversify myself a bit.  Any other sites that I develope are more than likely going to be ones that don’t require phone service.

If you own a directory, come check out mine sometime.  Right now, I’m open for submissions with reciprocal link.  This probably won’t last long.  Featured links are only $4.99 and regular links are only $1.99.  Check it out, Directories Only!

Hmm, Interesting…

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

During my lunch break today I went to Google and typed in pro audio directory.  My new directory was #3 out over 11 million results.  4 1/2  hours later the directory is no where to be found.  I was amazed to even see it on the first page of Google this soon.  I would be expecting it maybe in 5-6 months, but not days after I started the site.  Even if my site were to stay in position #3, it isn’t a huge accomplishment because there aren’t too many people searching for pro audio directory in Google.  Here is the URL to my new site: www.proaudiodirectory.net.

New Pro Audio Directory

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Well, I started a new site again. I’ve never owned a directory and I’ve been itching to do something pro audio related. So I’m doing both, I started a pro audio directory. I’m trying this out to get some experience in this area. It’s kind of an experiment. I’m using PHPLD. I already got my first submission and I just announced the site’s opening yesterday. I have more to add to the site. I would like to syndicate some pro audio news on the site. I’m still trying to figure out the easiest way to do this. Here’s the site proaudiodirectory.net. My wife made the logo for me. Notice the EQ bars in the logo. I thought that was a pretty cool idea. The site is open for free submissions. If you are interested in starting a directory, here is a post that I had in the past that might be useful for you http://www.webpuffs.com/2006/08/25/what-it-takes-to-have-a-directory/

I’m Back… Kind Of

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

It’s been about a month since I handed this blog over to my brother-in-law, Jeff.  I got rid of all my sites except for one to focus more time on my family and on my job.  You can read my farewell post here.  Ever since then, I’ve been itching to blog or do something internet related.  I just enjoy it a lot.

After some thought and some talks with Jeff, we have decided to tag team post here on Webpuffs.  I’m going to limit the time that I spend on Webpuffs to protect my time with my family so I won’t post nearly every day like I did in the past.  So I’m back, but not in the same capacity I was in the past.  Jeff is still the official owner of Webpuffs.  He has the domain.  I’m just going to post here and there.  Jeff and I have a few things in the works.  One that I will mention is a store that we are adding to the blog.  I believe the products we will sell, will be helpful to a lot of webmaster out there.  It’s 3:30 in the morning.  I will share more details later.

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

You know, one of the hardest things for me to do is wait.  I like to get things done and get them done fast.  But I’m learning to have more patience.  I have a project going that I would really loved to have luanched two weeks ago.  When I first got into the internet business scene, I would have just built a site and threw it up on the web real quick.  I’ve come to realize that the more you rush things the less professional your project turns out.

With this specific project, I thought I was done yesterday until I got 4-5 people to review my site.  About a week ago, I placed my site up for review in a couple of forums.  I got some feedback and made some changes to the site.  Yesterday I paid a few people a small amount of money or offered them
