Having Multiples Sites With Semilar IPs

Friday, March 14th, 2008

I have multiple sites being hosted on the same C block. I’ve kept hearing over and over that Google will penalize you for that. I always wondered if this was true or not, then I found the following video by Matt Cutts. (more…)

Sponsored WordPress Themes, a Thing of the Past?

Friday, March 7th, 2008

A while back a huge link building craze hit the net.  People started creating free WordPress themes for the sole purpose of link building.  It seemed like nearly everyone was doing it.  If you didn’t have the skills to create your own themes, you would pay someone else to create a theme for you.  You would then proceed to place text links in the footer of these themes and then give them away for free.  If a person ended up using your theme, you would get some link juice from their site.  Does Google frown on this? (more…)

My BANS Sites

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

A couple of posts ago I talked about how I promote my BANS sites. For site A I did free directory submissions, while site B I did paid directory submissions. Here are the results:

For the month of February I had 363 unique visitors for site B. Site A had 252. Visitors found site B under 106 search phrases while site A was only found under 12 search phrases. So far I have made I’ve made $0.68 off of site B and $0.35 off of site A. And just so you know, I submitted site B to the following directories:

SEOMA

and

Zir Directory

I’m going to submit it to more directories. I might just bump this experiment and start submitting site A to paid directories also.

How I Promote My BANS Sites

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Right now, I have two BANS sites that are under main domains. And then I have a handful of BANS sites that are located in sub directories under domains. Today we will focus on the sites that are under the main domains. I’m doing an experiment between 2 sites. Both site A and B have been Stumbled. On site A, I have been using a more agressive link buidling strategy. I’ve been trading links and doing free directory submissions. The free directory submissions was a 200 directory submission package from someone on Digitalpoint. I’ve also done some article submissions. Site A, in my opinion has a lesser link quality than the links I’ve acquired for site B.

On site B, The only free directories that I submitted the site to were niche specific directories. The rest of the links that I received were from quality paid directores. When I submit my sites to paid directories, I usually won’t submit them to a category that doesn’t have at least a PR of 0. Google has really been doing some weird stuff towards directories.  I used to be king of free directory submissions.  I would pay people to submit my site to directories for me.  I’m starting to get leary of those kind of submissions services.  They tend to submit your site to the junkiest of directories.  A lot of free directories will accept just about any site into their directory.  You almost have to submit to directories yourself so that you get in the best quality.  Anyways, thats what my experiment is about.  I will let you know how things go.

Another Reason to Comment on My Blog

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

I just installed a WordPress plugin called Do Follow on this blog.  I didn’t know this until recently, but when you post comments on WordPress blogs, WordPress automatically puts a nofollow tag in the link. This means Google will not follow the link back to your site, which means that you will not get any link juice from the comment that you leave.  Now a comment on my blog will also give you some link love back to you.  All I ask is please don’t spam me.  :)

Justin.tv

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

I found the site Justin.tv the other day. Someone at Digital Point was talking about it. If you haven’t seen the site yet, this guy named Justin has a camera strapped to his head. The camera is on 24/7 filming his every move. He even has his cell phone number on the site so you can call him. It’s kind of like an internet version of the Truman Show.

I think this is a great marketing idea. Justin will probably receive a lot of business opportunities from this.  I also think it’s pretty boring, but a lot of people are interested in hearing about people’s private lives even if they aren’t famous. I think people in general are pretty nosey. I don’t know about you, but when I visit other people’s blogs, I enjoy reading posts that are about the blogger themselves. Maybe the have some pictures of their family up or what not. I will spend a ton of time looking at this person’s person’s family photos, and I don’t know the blogger and their family f
